Stephanie Hibbard is a visual artist with a focus in painting. Specifically, she uses acrylic paint on canvas and paper to create abstract expressions. Most of her artworks display gestural marks without intention.  The purpose of the artwork is to archive the movement in the moment. There is typically a play of color theory involved in each artwork where complementary tones are marked against one another and mixed with one another to create depth. At times, the artwork is adorned with mixed media such as ink and charcoal. This enhances and varies the gestural marks on the canvas. This deep study of color theory and gestural marks was sparked during Hibbard’s time studying chemistry at Florida International University. This interest grew into a passion, and the focus of study changed from chemistry to fine art. Hibbard graduated with a degree in Art in 2012.

In 2016, Stephanie Hibbard returned to the world of academia to begin her Master’s of Fine Arts at FIU. Her focus was in abstract painting, harking back to true abstract expressionists such as Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Helen Frankenthaler, and Joan Mitchel. While growing as a painter, Hibbard also grew as an art historian, learning about artists who have made their mark in the world. This study also focused on the psychology and philosophy of art, as well as the psychology and philosophy of the people creating the artwork and their patrons. Hibbard graduated on the Dean's list in May 2019.

During her time at FIU, Hibbard had the opportunity to exhibit her artwork at establishments such as the Frost Museum, the Laudromat Art Space, the Bakehouse, FIU’s MBUS location on South Beach, and ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale. She also completed a large mural inside the FIU Football stadium. Hibbard also participated in Florida’s SuperCon 2019 and Miami’s Animate 2017 where she displayed and sold fan art.

Stephanie Hibbard continues to create abstract artwork and fan art. She is actively applying for open calls and artist alleys to display artwork.
